The almost year long split of the infamous duo Mike & Ike rocked the candy world to its sweet core. This pair has been creating delicious candy for many years and now they have reunited and are back to doing what they do best...make scrumptious candy!

Grammy award-winning hip hop artist, actor and reality star, Nelly has teamed up with MIKE AND IKE® in honor of their recent reconciliation. This announcement comes just as Mike and Ike prepare to debut their movie trailer, “The Return of Mike and Ike™,” about the spilt and reunion. Nelly is known to be a long-time fan of MIKE AND IKE® candy.

I was really excited to be invited to the premiere of the movie trailer The Return of Mike & Ike:
chronicling the split and much celebrated reunion. I was even more excited to learn that music artist Nelly would also be there to celebrate and share his involvement with the candy brand.

I had a few questions for Nelly and he was able to sit with me and chat for a bit. First, I congratulated him on all his success He is happy to have just finished up his album: as well as the taping for the season Two of The Real Husbands of Hollywood. The pressing question of the night was “Which Mike & Ike flavor is your favorite?”

Nelly explained to me that he loves ALL the original flavors, not one more than the other. I enjoyed our chat and am excited that Nelly has teamed up with this amazing candy company to celebrate their reunion.

Nelly will also be tweeting about MIKE AND IKE®, be featured in web videos for the brands’ social media sites, as well as being an integral part of press and media events at the 2013 Sweets & Snacks Expo in Chicago.


The screening took place at the Tribeca Room and candy was everywhere, even in the candy inspired drinks: Strawberry Basil Spritzer & a Strawberry Cucumber Caipirinha both complete with liquid nitrogen for cool effects and the yummy new flavor: Strawberry Reunion, which is said to have brought the pair back together!


There were a number of radio, television, Internet and other media on hand to celebrate as well as members of the Just Born Inc. team including David Yale, president and Donald Houston, marketing manager.

I had a chance to speak to both David, president of Just Born Inc. and Donald, the Marketing Manager of Just Born Inc. They filled me in on the break up, what led up to the reunion, the movie trailer and the “new” flavors. Apparently, Mike decided to pursue his musical career and Ike decided to explore the eccentric artist within himself.

After about a year and lots of input from long time lovers of Mike & Ike begging and pleading for them to settle their differences and get back to making candy, the duo finally made amends and are back!
